Master Guide Program - Central Sentinels

 

 

 

Do you feel up to the challenge?  If so, you may be ready to become a Master Guide.

To become a Master Guide, you must:

  • Be a baptized church member of the Seventh-day Adventist church.
  • Have a written recommendation from the Albuquerque Central Seventh-day Adventist Church Board (Contact Club Director for details).
  • Be at least 16 years old to start, but must be 18 years old in order to be inducted.
  • Completed the North American Division (NAD) Pathfinder "Basic Staff Training Certification".

Additionally, each Master Guide candidate must have or be able to obtain at least one of the following certifications from the American Red Cross:

  • Adult, Child, and Infant CPR/AED
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (Includes Adult, Child, and Infant CPR/AED)
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED for Adult, Child, and Infant

Candidates must:

  • Serve as club leader for one year.
  • Serve as a leader during a conference event. 
  • Teach a pathfinder investiture program or Sabbath school class for one year
  • Teach two pathfinder honors
  • Complete a three-month fitness program
  • Plan and lead a Pathfinder event
  • Attend a Master Guide Workshop (Conference)
  • Attend seminars (Risk Management, Child Development, and Child Abuse Prevention)

Complete the following honors/awards:

  • Evangelism Award
  • Nutrition Honor
  • Christian Storytelling Honor
  • Adventist Pioneer & Heritage Honor
  • Camping Skills 2/3/4 Honors
  • Basic Drilling & Marching Honor
  • Knot Tying Honor
  • Crisis Intervention Honor
  • Flags Honor

 

Master Guide Seminar/Workshop should include the following topics:

  • How to be a Christian Leader & Leadership Skills
  • Vision, Mission, and Motivation
  • Communication Theory & Listening Skills
  • Practical Communication
  • Understanding Teaching & Learning Styles
  • Creativity and Resources Development
  • How to Prepare Effective & Creative Workshops
  • Principle's of Youth and Children's Evangelism
  • How to Lead a Child to Christ
  • Understanding your Spiritual Gifts


Master Guide Sessions:

Master Guide sessions will be conducted via ZOOM and in person.

The once a month In person session will be used to validate portfolio submissions and validate MG worksheet/record.  In-person session will be held at the church (fellowship hall).

A ZOOM session link will be sent to each registered candidate via email (See church calendar for scheduled sessions)

3 Dec 2024: Complete Devotional Journal/Steps to Discipleship

10 Dec 2024: Complete Pathfinder Evangelism Award

17 Dec 2024: In-person meeting for portfolio validation (Fitness Session - Defense)

7 Jan 2025: Plan & Prepare Pathfinder Activity (Health & Hygiene Box)

14 Jan 2025: Prepare Christ's Ministry Presentations (X3)

21 Jan 2025: Complete Pathfinder Honors - Part 1
