
Do you feel up to the challenge? If so, you may be ready to become a Master Guide.
To become a Master Guide, you must:
- Be a baptized church member of the Seventh-day Adventist church.
- Have a written recommendation from the Albuquerque Central Seventh-day Adventist Church Board (Contact Club Director for details).
- Be at least 16 years old to start, but must be 18 years old in order to be inducted.
- Completed the North American Division (NAD) Pathfinder "Basic Staff Training Certification".

A Master guide mentor must check-in with their assigned candidate once a month to check on their progress. Additionally, Mentors will validate different sections of the portfolio with their signature. The following mentor assignments are made:
Nora Graham - John Abbott, Paul Schilke, and Claudine Schilke
Merilyn Christenson - Rosie Wilson
Richard Wical - Jim Wilson and Robert Christenson
Rachel Avery - Abigail Adjei-Poku
Additionally, each Master Guide candidate must have or be able to obtain at least one of the following certifications from the American Red Cross:
- Adult, Child, and Infant CPR/AED
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (Includes Adult, Child, and Infant CPR/AED)
- First Aid, CPR, and AED for Adult, Child, and Infant
Candidates must complete one of the following:
- Coach an Adventurer Bible Game (ABG) through Conference Level
- Coach a Bible Bowl/Pathfinder Bible Experience team through Division Level
- Serve as an active staff member for one year.
- Teach a Sabbath school class for one year
Complete the following honors/awards:
- Christian Storytelling
- Sanctuary
- Adventist Pioneer & Heritage Honor
- Basic Water Safety
- Camp Safety
- Camping Skills 1
- Camping Skills 2
- Temperance
Must have three of the following:
- Backpacking
- Basic Rescue
- Camping Skills 3
- Camping Skills 4
- Drilling & Marching
- Ecology
- Fire Building & Camp Cookery
- Knot Tying
- Nutrition
- Orienteering
Must have three of the following honors:
- Cultural Diversity
- Peacemaker
- Social Media
- One Outreach honor
- One Household Arts honor
Master Guide Seminar/Workshop should include the following topics:
- How to be a Christian Leader & Leadership Skills
- Vision, Mission, and Motivation
- Communication Theory & Listening Skills
- Practical Communication
- Understanding Teaching & Learning Styles
- Creativity and Resources Development
- How to Prepare Effective & Creative Workshops
- Principle's of Youth and Children's Evangelism
- How to Lead a Child to Christ
- Understanding your Spiritual Gifts
Master Guide Sessions:
Master Guide sessions will be conducted via ZOOM and in person.
The once a month In person session will be used to validate portfolio submissions and validate MG worksheet/record. In-person session will be held at the church (fellowship hall).
A ZOOM session link will be sent to each registered candidate via email (See church calendar for scheduled sessions)

Sep 2025: Induction as a Master Guide during the club induction ceremony.
